Bad breath is a health problem that can happen to anyone at any time. It is one of the unpleasant dental diseases ever. It is one of the unpleasant dental diseases ever. Most people suffering from bad breath do not know unless they are been told.

Here are some tips that can help you combat bad breath:

1. Brush and floss regularly.

Brushing the teeth will clear the sticky plaque and trapped food particles in the teeth that are likely to attract bacteria that causes bad breath. Brushing the teeth at least two times a day is highly recommended. 

Clean between the teeth using dental floss to remove all trapped food particles that are capable of causing tooth decay.

2. The use of mouthwash.

Rinsing the mouth with a mouthwash contributes to getting rid of bacteria from the mouth. Make sure your choice of mouthwash is capable of terminating the bacteria that cause bad breath. 

The mouthwash you use should not have a lot of alcohol in its content. This is because alcohol can lead to a dry mouth which in turn result in bad breath.

3. Tongue scraping method.

The whitish coating that is formed on the tongue harbours a considerable amount of bacteria. Brush the tongue with a toothbrush to get rid of them or better still try a scrapper so that you can reach the far end of the tongue. 

The scraper will take care of the bacteria, dead cells and food debris that are secreted on the tongue.

4. Do away with tobacco or smoking.

As mentioned earlier, using tobacco can also be a cause of bad breath. Therefore anybody who uses tobacco and is experiencing bad breath should just quit using tobacco or minimize its intake.
5. Keep your mouth moist or stay hydrated.

A dry mouth is actually a breeding ground for smelling bacteria on the tongue. You can easily get a bad breath or tooth decay if you are unable to produce enough saliva in the mouth. 

The saliva has oxygen which fights against bacteria. Don’t forget to take in a lot of water in the day. The water will help produce more saliva to get rid of bad breath.

6. See your dentist.

If you are able to detect that you are suffering from bad breath, the best and the most recommendable thing to do is to see your dentist. 

Dentists have the best method to combat Halitosis. He/she will weigh your condition and recommends appropriate method to curb or cure the disease.

7. Check what you eat.

Some foods are capable of causing bad breath. Excessive consumption of foods like curry, garlic, onions, and fish should be checked. Apart from these foods, acidic beverages like soda, wine, coffee, and beer are also capable of causing bad breath. 

All these contain a bad smell that makes its way into the lung through the bloodstream for them to be breathed out. Sugary foods like candy should also be checked.
